Winter pruning of fruit trees

Pruning of trees and hedges should be done by the end of the month at the latest, as this is when the breeding season of native bird species begins. To protect the birds, more extensive pruning must now be suspended from March 1 to October 1.

Many diseases in the orchard, if detected early, can be controlled without the use of pesticides and their spread in the garden can be prevented.

To maintain the fertility of established fruit trees in the full yield phase, they should be fertilized every two years. Early spring is the right time for this.
