General Information
Versatile: in more ways than one
This necklace by Ménard is remarkable because it allows for several very different ways of wearing it. Its base element is a stainless steel tube chain in the form of a finely woven Milanese knit. It is flexible and lies perfectly against the skin, yet always retains its beautiful, round shape. The most important feature of a classic necklace is the visual emphasis on the center, which rests on the décolleté. This function is fulfilled here by a striking solitaire made of the famous Murano glass, named after the lagoon island of the same name near Venice. It is olive green, irregularly shaped, and has a matte, stone-like appearance with a gentle play of light. This solitaire is held in place between the end caps of the tubular band using bayonet clasps. The highlight: While the necklace thrives on the elegant contrast between the bright, shiny, precisely knitted cord and the dark, matte, organically shaped Murano glass, However, it can just as easily be worn without the glass element (a small silver-colored cylinder adapter is included) or with a separately available interchangeable stone. The necklace is correspondingly versatile, as it harmonizes with nearly every outfit in one form or another.
Ménard. Timelessly beautiful and good
When Gisela and Detlef Menard founded their own company in 1981, the focus was still on the sale of antique-style jewelry. It has long since become an established family business that stands for timeless design and high quality. To achieve this, Ménard harmoniously combined aspects of craftsmanship, function and design. The clasps on the necklaces and bracelets, for example, are not just a necessary constructive evil, but in their simple yet effective design are sometimes pieces of jewelry in their own right. No wonder Ménard has protected them under design law. The necklaces and bracelets made from the colorful Murano glass beads, which come from the lagoon island near Venice, famous for its glass art, are almost a trademark. And of course Ménard also uses classic jewelry materials such as pearls.
Due to the high working and social standards, short transport routes and technical expertise, Ménard relies largely on Germany as a location: the silver clasps, for example, come from the gold town of Pforzheim, stones and chains from the gemstone town of Idar-Oberstein. It is worth noting that Ménard works specifically with refineries that only use recycled silver and gold for its precious metals.
