F. Hammann. Finest leather goods

The "Fabrik feiner Lederwaren" Franz Hammann in Offenbach, Hesse, one of the German centers of leather goods manufacturing, is one of the oldest leather manufacturers in Germany. For five generations now, the family business has been producing high-quality leather goods and travel accessories that are as sophisticated as they are durable, in some cases still on old special machines. Hammann has special experience not only in fine tailoring, but also in the production of leather bags and cases with frames and handles, where precise workmanship and high-quality materials play an even greater role than is already the case with fine tailoring. To ensure the quality of its leather products, Hammann (since 1864) produces at its headquarters and processes only full-grain leather of European origin. Locks and fittings are made in Germany. Here, too, the special feature is in the detail: they are all milled from solid brass and alloy steel and polished by hand. This can be seen in the mirror-like surfaces that could not be achieved with "drum polished sheet metal" parts.

Offenbach and leather - they were once synonymous. In the middle of the 20th century, there were around 200 leather-processing companies in the region, almost none of which are left. One that has made it is Kreis Ledermanufaktur. It has stood for handcrafted leather goods of the highest quality since 1963.

Our leather collection is made with sense and attention to detail, from the leather to the last seam. The small leather goods are unlined; the back of the leather thus remains - with its natural irregularities - "honestly" recognizable. Their seams are finished with an open edge. The hides of English and Scottish cattle are vegetable tanned in England using barrel tanning, i.e. in slowly rotating oak barrels in a tan broth.
