General Information
Interplay of form and color: in Dessau 1925
Clear lines, geometric shapes and a striking color palette are the style-defining elements in the work of the painter, graphic artist and Bauhaus master Lyonel Feininger, whose works played a decisive role in shaping the philosophy and visual language of the Bauhaus. The clocks in the Dessau 1925 series by Bauhaus Walter Gropius pick up on this legacy. They are characterized by clear lines, geometric shapes and a colour palette directly inspired by Feininger's paintings. They thus combine functionality and aesthetics in an impressive way. The 316L stainless steel used for the case is rust-proof, acid-resistant, hard-wearing and also kind to the skin - which is why it is often referred to as "surgical steel" in everyday life. The case back features a quote from Lyonel Feininger ("It's all gone to seed, gentlemen, we're off to the dessert"). Beneath the anti-reflective sapphire crystal of the classic three-hand watch lies an uncluttered dial with clear typography that can be read easily and accurately at a glance. The tried-and-tested GL32 quartz movement from Citizen-Miyota ensures reliable and precise timekeeping. The leather strap is fitted with a pin buckle.
Bauhaus Walter Gropius: watches with design history
Bauhaus Walter Gropius watches represent the design principles of the Bauhaus, founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius, whose work continues to exert an influence on architecture, art, graphic design, interior design and industrial design to this day. The clear, functional design of these watches was also created entirely in the spirit of the Bauhaus and embodies its essence in an exemplary manner. The design is based on the work of important Bauhaus students and lecturers - although design elements of Bauhaus architecture are also quoted in the clocks. The designs were created by the renowned object and industrial designer Daniel Eltner. The watches are manufactured in Germany, as Managing Director Christian Schmitt is convinced that quality, craftsmanship and the values of the Bauhaus are deeply rooted in no other country. This means that Bauhaus Walter Gropius watches are far more than just everyday objects. Rather, they are stylish accessories that continue the legacy of Walter Gropius and his philosophy - in a form that appeals to lovers of the classic Bauhaus style and modern watch enthusiasts alike.
