Large-format shawl made of pure wool measuring 90 × 90 centimetres and measuring just under one square meter. The very lightweight fabric is loosely woven in a plain weave, which gives the woven pattern of four blocks with plain, striped and checked sections a fine wavy structure and a slight transparency. The selvedge forms the edge on two sides, while the other two sides are finished with narrow fringed edges.

Behind the Moismont label, based in Picardy, France, are Martine and Jacques Bijvoet. Through their fashion, the couple champion authenticity and tradition. It is therefore no surprise that their scarves and stoles, garments, and bags blend French textile design with traditional Indian weaving craftsmanship. After all, the original scarf (which, as we understand it, is worn more like a stole) once made its way from the Indian subcontinent to Europe. And to this day, this scarf-making culture remains very much alive in India: yarn-dyeing, weaving, and printing techniques are passed down there from generation to generation—across three carefully distinguished trades, each of which possesses and safeguards its own unique expertise.
