At the beginning of the 20th century, the balloon cap was primarily a practical piece of headwear for the working class, but it quickly became a fashion statement. Today, with its timeless chic and retro charm, it has long since become an integral part of women's fashion - as a stylish accessory that bridges the gap between sporty, casual elegance and urban nonchalance. For this characterful piece, the renowned hat maker Mayser uses a warming tweed with a striking melange shade made from pure new wool. The top consists of eight classic segments and is crowned by a button covered with outer fabric. An elasticated band at the back gives the hat a secure and snug fit. The lining made from pure, skin-friendly cotton ensures a comfortable feel all round. Thanks to its voluminous shape, even long hair disappears under the balloon hat. Any amount of hair - from a strand to a plait - can just as easily peek out from underneath.

When Leonhard Mayser opened his "Hutmacherey" in Ulm in 1800, he could hardly have imagined that Mayser hats would one day become a global brand, with an annual production of 3.5 million pieces in 1963, a record year (unsurpassed to date). Today, the production figures are far lower, but Mayser can still call itself a global brand with sales markets in 44 countries. The secret to the success of the company based in Lindenberg in the Allgäu, the former "Little Paris" of hat fashion, has remained the same for more than two centuries: Quality. While design, purchasing and sales are still based in the Allgäu, production was relocated to Slovakia in 2002. Mayser built its own factory there and also trains its own staff.
