It is quite impossible to make socks heavier and warmer than this one. At least if you are talking about machine knitting. It may work with knitting needles, but then the socks wouldn’t be as tightly knit. A sevenfold knit of 11 Nm thick yarn creates socks that weigh close to half a pound. They are made of natural, undyed lamb’s wool and feature a reinforced toe and heel. The socks are hand-linked. Any level of ground frost becomes negligible with them, but don’t even think about wearing them in elegant shoes. These socks are made for boots and wooden clogs.

These socks are manufactured in the Münsterland region. As is often the case in textile production, a collection of old machines contributes to their quality. Here, they are 1950s Bentley-Komet circular knitting machines. They are capable of processing materials such as linen and distributing yarns in a differentiated manner throughout the sock’s structure: reinforced in areas subject to the greatest stress, or using two different yarns for the inner and outer sides. The result is socks with a great fit that are hard-wearing and durable.
