The textiles from the Amsterdam-based label Suite702 never fail to surprise and delight with their cheerful, vibrant colors. This pillowcase is no exception, available in either radiant turquoise or deep, rich blue. The soft, lightweight fabric (145 g/sq m) is ideal for summer, as it’s made of 67 percent linen, which gives it a pleasant texture and durability. Above all, linen conducts heat well and absorbs a lot of moisture without feeling damp. Since it also wicks moisture away quickly, it feels pleasantly cool. The 33 percent cotton content makes the fabric slightly softer. The fact that the cover feels extremely supple overall—and particularly soft for a linen fabric—is due to the pre-wash or pre-shrinking, as it’s called in technical terms. This process removes the linen’s typical initial stiffness because, during shrinking—and later during washing—the long linen fibers are creased, causing the fabric to become slightly softer with each wash. In addition, the pre-wash also changes the fabric’s appearance; the linen takes on a more vibrant texture and appears more voluminous. A lovely detail is the double stitching used to craft the cover, which frames it like a border.

The crumpled look is part of the design; however, if you still wish to iron the cover, make sure the bedding is slightly damp while ironing. We also recommend drying the bedding on a clothesline rather than in the dryer. This is gentler on the fabric and further extends the lifespan of the already durable linen.
