The shape of this wall mounted lamp is derived from two basic geometric forms in a striking but simple combination of a spherical glass dome and a cylindrical porcelain base.
Northern Lights. Made of porcelain and glass
With its excellent insulating properties and resistance to aging, porcelain is still the material of choice for lamp holders and fixtures for outdoor and bathroom lighting. These porcelain lamps are manufactured in southern Sweden at Ifö Electric - a company that specialized in ceramic components as early as 1887 and is now one of the leading producers of ceramic fittings.
