When you're on the move, you like to prop your head up to sleep or lean it against the window in the train, car or plane. But sometimes the distance is (too) big, sometimes small, sometimes you're not sitting at the window at all ... It's good to have a cushion to hand that can be adjusted - like this travel cushion. It is filled with dimensionally stable and therefore well-supporting yet elastic natural rubber flakes that can be flexibly distributed in the ticking. You can therefore use the pillow as a flatter, 60 cm long version, which is then also suitable as a pillow in a hotel, in a vacation apartment or when camping. Or you can shake the rubber flakes onto one side, fold the cover and inlet of the empty side inwards and have a firm small pillow measuring 30 × 40 cm, which is also slightly higher.

So that you can transport the travel pillow easily and it doesn't get dirty on the go, it comes in a backpack bag made from soft satin made from organic cotton, which is also used for the pillow cover itself. Both are machine washable up to 60 °C. The additional protective cushion cover made from organic cotton jersey is also machine washable (up to 40 °C). You can even put the ticking in the washing machine if necessary (if you remove the natural rubber flakes first). The rubber flakes used for this travel pillow are certified, and the latex is also obtained under fair working conditions.

Natural rubber is a permanently elastic material that is obtained from the latex of rubber trees. Compared to synthetic latex (which is obtained from crude oil), natural latex has many advantages. For example, rubber trees can store a lot of carbon dioxide - many times more than other tropical trees (especially those grown for timber production). However, it is important in cultivation that the plantations are kept small and no large-scale monocultures are created. This reduces the use of pesticides, reduces soil erosion and preserves biodiversity. Ideally, rubber trees are combined with other tree species when cultivated on plantations - this allows the plants to benefit in several ways. After all, small plantations provide a livelihood for many small farmers.

Bedding made from certified natural materials, produced with respect for people and animals and carefully crafted by hand - this is what Prolana has stood for since 1987. The majority of production takes place on site at the company headquarters in Waldburg: from processing the supplied wool into fleece to making up the bedding and manufacturing the mattresses.

The raw materials come from controlled organic cultivation and controlled organic animal husbandry and carry certifications such as the Quality Association for Environmentally Compatible Latex Mattresses (QUL) or the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS). Prolana not only knows the production facilities, suppliers and people involved in the value chain personally, but also supports them through surcharges, local projects and new fair trade standards, some of which it has created itself. For example, Prolana played a key role in the founding of the Fair Rubber e.V. fair trade association.
