General Information

Strikingly checkered, carefully bound around the edges

A special kind of tea towel is this one from Erika Vaitkute's linen weaving mill: with its unusual blue and red check pattern on the natural-colored background, it is already an eye-catcher in the kitchen. And even though the plaid looks traditional, it's a more recent design, as is the edging of the edges in light blue, which adds an eye-catching detail. Woven from pure European linen, it's absorbent, grippy and durable, and as is typical of linen, gets softer with each wash. With a basis weight of 210 g/sqm, it is not only suitable for drying dishes, but is a real all-rounder in your kitchen.

Passion for Lithuanian linen. Erika Vaitkute

Erika Vaitkute has been passionate about textiles and fabrics, especially linen, for as long as she can remember. From a young age, she sewed with her mother, who also taught her to appreciate Lithuanian linen. It is important to know that Lithuania has a living and deeply rooted linen tradition dating back thousands of years - it is therefore not unusual for Lithuanians to engage with and continue old textile techniques. On the contrary, in recent years there has been a strong resurgence of interest in them, both throughout the Baltic States and among young artists, designers and craftspeople.
In the meantime, Erika Vaitkute's path (and her sewing machine) has taken her to Germany, but her passion for fine linen textiles and the traditional craft behind them has remained. So she set up a small studio in Hamburg, where she and her team design the patterns and collections. However, the fabrics are still woven and made up in her manufactory in Lithuania. According to all the rules of Lithuanian linen weaving, sophisticated handcrafted pieces are created there, from table linen to hand and kitchen towels to blankets. Only the best linen from long-fiber flax of European origin is used. This not only guarantees the high quality of the linen, but also the careful processing of the ancient crop under fair conditions.
