General Information
Kenya's colors in Finnish weaving tradition
The cooperation between Lapuan Kankurit, a weaving mill in Lapua in western Finland, and the Mifuko label has resulted in a textile series that combines Finnish weaving craftsmanship and Kenyan tradition. The two Mifuko designers have been working with women in Kenya for a long time and their designs are inspired by the traditions and craftsmanship there. The table linen owes its design and, above all, its cheerful colors to this influence. Lapuan Kankurit translates this into jacquard-woven linen with stripes of dyed yarn of different widths woven into the natural white background. After weaving and finishing, the linen fabric is washed on site, giving it a soft feel and a lively texture - but it can no longer be ironed perfectly smooth.
Lapuan Kankurit specializes in linen and jacquard fabrics. Only the best linen yarns from long-fiber flax of European provenance are used on the looms of the company, which is now in its fourth generation - including for these table runners. You will also find matching tablecloths, placemats and napkins as well as a tea towel of this design in our range.
