General Information
Brass Lights from Berlin.
The Berlin lighting manufacturers had their heyday at the beginning of the 20th century, the imprint of the Art Nouveau style is unmistakable. You will notice how good these lights are at the very moment when you set them up respectively hang them up: The metal parts are made of solid brass or, in the case of long pipes, made of brass plated steel. The lampshades are made of hand-blown glass; they gain their shape in wooden forms. The electrical leads are solid textile cables. The ceiling roses are made of porcelain or brass. The patina dyed brass is not lacquered, so the patina can be partially or entirely removed by careful brushing with fine steel wool to emphasize contours or to heighten the shine. A trace of olive oil, applied with a lint-free cloth, is all the care the brass needs. Unlike the most uninhibitedly historicised replicas, the Berlin brass lights are of timeless clarity.
