They've been handmade for years from strips of birchwood, are very light and almost indestructible. The manufacturer can tell you about baskets that were produced 50 years ago which are still in service. He delivers his trugs to the gardeners and groundskeepers of the Windsor Castle Royal Park and Gardens.

Basket and handhold made of birchwood slats and skids made of pine. The nails made of copper which hold the strips make for a charming detail. 47.5 x 27.5 - 28 cm, brim height without the foot, 11.5, cm, with foot, 14.5 – 15 cm (the dimensions of the handmade article can vary slightly). Weight 940 g.
