Finest Distinctions. Stowa Partitio.
The Partitio, a classic three-hand watch, is based on a model built in the 1930’s — a time when the Bauhaus influence was evident in the prevailing taste for cleanly designed, functional watch dials. The Partitio’s outer minutes and seconds track is subdivided into small partitions, the design feature that gave the model its name. But while the original Partitio model was equipped with a manual movement of the Unitas brand that is no longer available these days, this newer incarnation is driven by the well-proven and robust ETA 2824-2 automatic movement. The numerals on the dial as well as the hour and minute hands are filled with Superluminova pigment, a luminous material that glows for several hours after exposure to light. Since there are no chemical reactions involved in the process, the lifetime of the lume is theoretically unlimited, so the watch face will be able to glow, perfectly legible in the dark, even decades from now. The crown and the buckle of the watch strap are both engraved with the Stowa logo. The Partitio is available in two versions, with either a matte white or matte black dial.
Stowa. Pforzheim.
Stowa was founded in 1927 by Walter Storz, in the Black Forest town of Hornberg, not far from his father’s clockmaking factory. The company moved to Pforzheim in 1935. In 1996, watchmaker Jörg Schauer took over from the founder’s son, Werner Storz, and with the help of practised master watchmakers, he breathed new life into the brand by producing watches that tapped directly into the tradition of the earlier models.
