Stoelcker chair

Stoelcker chair
- Famous classic modern design
- Solid steam-bent beech wood
- Traditional craftsmanship: finger joints on seat and front frame
General Information
A Harmonious Balance between Classic and Modern.
These chairs are a fine example of the kind of work the ‘Vienna Avant-Garde’ (centred around Hoffmann, Loos and Wagner) is famous for: At the beginning of the 20th century, their idea was to achieve a ‘floating balance’ between the old and the new, more traditional design and modern aesthetics. Besides the chair’s design, the makers are famous as well: it is Stoelker, operating from the small town of Ettenheim in Baden, south-west Germany.
The back of the chair is made of solid beech-wood, and the ribs are steam-bent. The front rib section has been dove-tailed by hand. The chair comes in a red-brown and black stain finish with matt varnish.
