Origin obliges. Knives from Thiers

Almost every region in France has its own knife culture. The Auvergne town of Thiers, for example, has been famous for its cutlery for more than 700 years. The knives from the Goyon-Chazeau cutlery workshop are among the selected models that meet all the requirements of the local guild council, which is still active today, in terms of craftsmanship. Take a look at the elegant shape of these knives - the handle and blade come together in the curve of a double shaft - and the small T-shaped seal engraved on the solid blade, which is hand-forged from stainless steel blanks. As stipulated in the regulations, the forge's lettering can also be seen on the blade.

Exclusively, our steak knives with a cow horn handle have a further decorative element, as the full image of a historic building is clearly visible on the nib. Château du Pirou, built in 1410 as the residence of Louis II. Duke of Bourbon and Count of Forez, is now the oldest house in the medieval town center of Thiers. It goes without saying that the knife artists at Goyon-Chazeau apply the same special care to the decorative guilloche on the back of the knife as they do to the engravings. Finally, the handle scales are fitted precisely.
