With scissors, glue and a little skill, this black construction cardboard kit can be used to build a large-format "dome star chart" that, unlike flat star charts, is almost distortion-free. Compared to a star globe, it has the advantage that viewers do not have to mentally place themselves in the center of a closed sphere, but can see the stars as they appear in the sky. All 2,365 stars visible to the naked eye in Central Europe are shown, as well as the constellations and (for binoculars or spotting scopes) some nebulae and star clusters. A date and time indication in the margin makes it quick and easy to find the stars in the sky. The stars can be made to twinkle in two ways: by light coming in from outside - after perforating the hemisphere with needles of different sizes - or by a small black light lamp, as the inner sphere is overprinted with an invisible fluorescent marking ink. (A black light lamp is not included in the scope of delivery, a supply address is enclosed with the kit).
