Achille and Pier Giaccomo Castiglioni designed this futuristic pendant light for the Splügen Bräu brewery in Milan, which was built in 1960 and demolished in the 1980s. The brothers also designed other objects for the pub, including mirrors, furniture and glassware. The luminaire was therefore originally part of an overall concept. The striking reflector of the luminaire is made of turned aluminum, which was then polished and zapon-varnished. It provides direct downward light, making it ideal for illuminating dining tables and counters. The canopy is made of glossy white, vacuum-formed ABS and the ceiling fixture is made of steel. The PVC-covered cable has a useful length of 2.20 m. Socket: E27, power consumption: max. 70 W, protection rating: IP20. A suitable bulb is not included in the scope of delivery. Cable: L 220 cm.

The architect and designer Achille Castiglioni and his brothers Pier Giacomo and Livio are among the driving forces and great innovators of Italian design in the 20th century. The style of the three brothers varies between simple practicality and organic opulence. Design objects that use industrially manufactured components in surprising new contexts in the tradition of ready-mades became a particular trademark of the Castiglionis.
