General Information

A strong piece. For powerful work

It takes a lot of strength to work on very hard and stony ground. And gardeners are entitled to expect that the spade will make optimum use of their muscles.

This spade in the form of the "English garden spade" is a particularly strong piece: It is made entirely of solid steel - including the handle. This means that the spade can permanently withstand the highest loads. And since there is no transition from wooden handle to socket, you can even exert great leverage on the steel spade without it threatening to bend or break. The ash wood knob on the steel handle makes work even easier: This design is easy to grasp and allows you to exert particularly powerful pressure on the spade from above - it is no coincidence that such a "knob handle" is also highly valued in road construction. To protect the soles of your shoes with so much optimal power transmission, the sharpened blade of this steel spade has forged-on treads.

Garden tools with character

The Krumpholz family knows a thing or two about forging. Based in the Franconian Forest, their ancestors acquired their first own hammer mill - the Guttenberger Hammer - in 1799 and were already producing tools and other everyday objects from forged iron back then. Today, the company's fortunes are in the hands of the eighth generation. The garden tools that leave the production site, which is still in its old location but has long since been modernized and expanded, are tools of the highest quality: shaped to their intended use under the weight of the forging hammer, compacted and reinforced where necessary, fitted with sharpened edges or blades and equipped with high-quality ash wood handles. Free-form forging, as practiced at Krumpholz, requires special skill and a sense of proportion. The steel used, a Swedish steel with a chrome-molybdenum content, is tough, strong and easy to clean.
