It is therefore no surprise that their scarves and stoles, garments, and bags blend French textile design with traditional Indian weaving craftsmanship. After all, the original scarf (which, as we understand it, is worn more like a stole) once made its way from the Indian subcontinent to Europe. And to this day, this scarf-making culture remains very much alive in India: yarn-dyeing, weaving, and printing techniques are passed down there from generation to generation—across three carefully distinguished trades, each of which possesses and safeguards its own unique expertise.
