The Rhineland hatchet owes its name to the characteristic shape of its head forged from carbon steel (C60). Its design, with a narrow shaft and fan-shaped spread towards the cutting edge, is traditionally based on the classic German head shape - which, however, was particularly cultivated in the Rhineland region. This is how the regional nickname came about.

The shape follows the function: splitting wood is the specialty of this handy, lightweight yet powerful tool. A wet and gray winter day will not affect the tool itself or the person using it, because the handle made of cleanly smoothed hickory wood is treated with a non-slip textured coating at the lower end - where you want to get a good grip. Whether ungloved, sweaty or wet in the rain, your hands will keep a firm grip on everything. Good to know: The tool head is pre-treated with a rust inhibitor. It doesn't get any better than this: to keep the blade sharp for longer, our gift set comes with a whetstone with 80 and 220 grit in the wooden box, which can be used to resharpen the blade and for fine sharpening.
