The actual purpose of these pure linen threads used to be to hold the sausage on the butcher's hook. The yarns, which were twisted in two colors and also in different color combinations, helped butchers and journeymen to distinguish the different types of sausage and their respective preparation methods. In the meantime, modernity has also provided a replacement here and the cheaper synthetic thread is now usually used instead of the natural fiber. We have the yarn made from pure linen again in a twisting mill in Lower Saxony - in three color combinations - so it can also be used as a gift ribbon.
