For optimum sharpness
A razor should rest after shaving at least one day, because the blade in this time of its own again. Only then can (and should) you use a honing belt to restore optimum sharpness without tearing fine metal particles from the cutting edge.

Cowhide, vegetable-tanned. Swivel and hook made of nickel-plated steel. Cotton woven band, undyed and unbleached. Strap length 50 cm, width 8 cm. Total length 68 cm. Weight 210 g.
After being used for a shave, a razor should be allowed to rest for at least one day, since the blade will reconstitute itself alone during this time. Not until after this rest period can (and should) you restore optimum sharpness with a sharpening strap without tearing fine metal particles from the blade.
