As simple as the design of this placemat may appear, it is intricately woven and could rival any floral jacquard pattern. This is because the placemat is made on the same jacquard loom as its ornamental counterparts. This can be seen in the fact that the frame is completely woven and the colors on the reverse side appear to be the same. You can also see from the two selvedges that attention to detail has been paid here: They are created when the loom is set up specifically for the respective width of the woven fabric. The weft thread continues endlessly during weaving and is not simply cut off, so that only the upper and lower cut edges need to be hemmed.
