Tart and fruity with a peppery note
This chutney based on a North German recipe combines the fruity components of pears with the tart note of barberry. At the same time, the tart, fruity chutney has a peppery note. It is a delight with game, smoked salmon and cheese, but also tastes great with roast pork, chicken or turkey.
Spicy food from the manor
At Rittergut Valenbrook in the district of Cuxhaven, whose history dates back to the Middle Ages, the best food is made by hand from carefully selected ingredients. Behind this is the Bremen merchant family Leisewitz, who acquired the estate in 1895 and are now the fifth generation to run it in its current form. The estate's own delicatessen manufactory is located within the historic walls of the old stables. All kinds of chutneys, jams, mustards and seasoning sauces are prepared there from regional ingredients according to the tried and tested rules of the culinary art.
