Two thick layers of wool felt, inserted into a case made of supple, textured Olive Leather®—this is how Ackermann creates a card case that perfectly combines clean lines with functionality. The cowhide, tanned with olive leaves, features a silky-matte sheen and the robustness typical of the material, while at the same time feeling supple and soft in the hand. Despite its compact size, the card case offers surprising capacity, as all compartments can hold multiple cards. The two-millimeter-thick layers of wool felt gently and protectively encase your most important cards, and with a total of three slots, they allow you to organize your cards—for example, by type or frequency of use.

The tanning specialists at wet-green® have developed a comprehensively gentle tanning process. It is based on one of the oldest useful plants: the olive tree. Its leaves contain bitter substances that protect it against pests and rot and are also suitable as a tanning agent. Only the olive leaves that are left over from the annual pruning and would otherwise be burnt are used to extract the tannin. The syrupy tanning agent is produced from these leaves under food conditions and could even be tasted if it wasn't so bitter. Leather tanned in this way is very kind to the skin and absolutely harmless to people and the environment throughout the entire product cycle. Olive leaf tanning can produce leather with a wide range of properties: From strong saddle leather to supple garment leather, everything is possible depending on the preparation and finish. The olive leather® used here is soft and non-slip, yet surprisingly resistant to water and very hard-wearing. The Ackermann fine sewing workshop in Lüneburg gives it a simple, straightforward shape for us. Since the 1980s, the leather manufacturer Ackermann has stood for handcrafted and resource-conserving production. Ackermann uses exclusively high-quality leathers tanned in German or European tanneries with minerals, vegetable substances or ingredients of animal origin (for example, fish oil for tanning deerskin). Beate Sedlacek and Karl-Henning Hohmann create the designs – the Bauhaus says hello – primarily based on an idea of functionality while reflecting on the characteristics of the respective leather and its surface. The resulting design is timeless, dispenses with superfluous details and features a clear cut in which every seam has its functional artisanal justification. Therefore, the leather can show all its strengths, including its visual and haptic qualities. Experienced sewists implement the designs in the best bag-making manner.
