The shape of this knife comes from a time when, instead of a multitude of special knives - each of which could only be used for a specific purpose due to their shape or material - one knife was used for everything. Its production is also reduced to the essentials.

First and foremost, it is immediately apparent that the knife has been forged by hand from a raw piece of alloyed but not stainless steel (a 55Si7 spring steel). The blacksmith made a conscious decision to only grind the blade, which is hardened to at least 55 HRC in oil, and not to flatten it, so that the fine grinding marks are still visible. As a sign of its origin, each knife bears a stamped grasshopper, the symbol of the black smithy located near Lüneburg.
