In terms of cut, it’s a parka that has proven itself for decades in all kinds of weather. Ecoalf has it crafted with meticulous attention to detail: A wide placket with concealed snaps covers the distinctive two-way zipper, and the padded hood features a brim and a drawstring at the back of the head for adjusting the fit. The parka itself is also padded; the lining, with crosswise quilting, ensures that the warm filling stays securely in place. This filling is made of PrimaLoft®, a down-like material that effectively insulates against the cold while being feather-light and water-repellent. The outer fabric, PrimaLoft® filling, and lining are made of recycled polyester. Snug-fitting knit cuffs at the sleeve openings keep out wind and cold. Two side pockets with concealed seams, as well as a chest pocket and an inside pocket with a vertical opening, hold small everyday items—all pockets close with zippers.

The Spaniard Javier Goyeneche has found a personal way to counter the waste of raw materials in our throwaway society – with creative ideas. In 2012, his label started producing fashion from recycled fibres. Then he initiated the revolutionary Ecoalf Ocean Project: More than 3,000 fishermen along the Spanish coast enlisted to help recover plastic waste from the sea. Goyeneche has the residues transformed into high-quality yarns for clothes, shoes and accessories. A similar project started in Thailand in 2017. Recycling all-natural textile fibres, namely cotton and wool, is another objective on Ecoalfs to-do list. Finally, the label mastered the challenge of finding new uses for old car tyres.
