This gilet is light, soft and warm, with an outer fabric, padding and lining made entirely from recycled polyester. The gilet is fastened with a two-way zipper that reaches up to the stand-up collar with a panel underneath, and the sleeve openings are finished with elastic piping. The vest is equipped with two side slit pockets with zippers, two inside pockets at the front and a large open inside pocket at the back, into which an additional inside pocket with a zipper is inserted. The cut of the vest is rather close to the body.

Spanish designer Javier Goyeneche has found his own way to combat raw material waste. Since 2012, his label Ecoalf has been producing fashion made from recycled fibers. A key project is “Upcycling the Oceans,” founded in 2015, in which more than 4,000 fishermen and fisherwomen from Spain, Thailand, Greece, Italy, France, and Egypt now recover plastic waste from the ocean. This waste is transformed into yarn, which is then used to create clothing, shoes, and accessories. In addition, Ecoalf is also involved in recycling textile fibers, specifically cotton and wool—and finally, Ecoalf has also mastered the challenge of repurposing old car tires as outsoles for shoes.
