A textbook example of a chukka boot: crafted from suede in an ankle-high style, with high-set lacing, two pairs of eyelets, and a crepe sole. It pairs very well with jeans and chinos, but also looks great with a suit. The name “Chukka” comes from the sport of polo. There, players wore the boot during breaks between periods of play (the “chukkas”) to give their feet a rest after exertion. Today, this comfortable classic has become an indispensable part of everyday wardrobes.
This Chukka boot from Astorflex is crafted from natural materials from the upper to the sole. Vegetable-tanned cowhide is used for the upper. The lining and sole are made of supple, vegetable-tanned calfskin, and the highly shock-absorbing crepe sole is made of natural rubber. A hallmark of Astorflex quality is the so-called “Idealnaht” along the edge of the sole, which makes the shoe flexible and durable.

The beginnings of Astorflex date back to the 19th century. After the First World War, the descendants of the shoemaking family founded the company "Fratelli Travenzoli" in Castel d'Ario, a small shoemaking town in the province of Mantua (Lombardy). From then on, the Travenzolis specialized in making shoes using the "ideal method", in which a visible seam joins the upper material to the insole, making the shoes particularly flexible, hard-wearing and durable. Today, the fate of Astorflex lies in the hands of Fabio Travenzoli, who consistently uses high-quality natural materials in production. First-class Italian leather is used for the uppers, in particular from master tanneries in Tuscany. The lining and insoles are made of soft calfskin, vegetable-tanned in a decoction of oak bark and mimosa. The outsoles are mainly made of natural rubber and only water-based adhesives are used. Astorflex has dedicated itself entirely to "good shoes", as the addition "La scarpa buona" in the shoe manufacturer's logo promises.
