At Thomas Riemer (TR for short), every glove is the result of meticulous craftsmanship. The gloves from this Austrian company are designed in Vienna and sewn in a Hungarian artisan workshop by about twenty glove makers—some with as much as 40 years of experience—using old specialty machines and tools. The leathers used come from tanneries in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, and France. For each pair of gloves, they are soaked in water, stretched over the edge of a table, and finally cut to size. The experience and intuition of the cutters play a decisive role in determining the fit and appearance of the finished glove. The seamstresses then sew the cut pieces together freehand, without any preliminary sketches or stitch markings—a task that demands a high degree of precision. Even a very experienced person can produce at most three pairs of such hand-sewn gloves per day. You’ll notice the difference when you wear them: A TR glove stretches only in width, not in length, and gently conforms to the shape of your hand.
