General Information
Rendezvous in Berlin. Meeting point 8 o'clock
Created in the early 1920s as a sporty men's perfume, this woody, aromatic fragrance quickly found favor with the ladies as well. Treffpunkt 8 Uhr is said to have been one of the favorite fragrances of French actress and dancer Josephine Baker, who was not only famous for the Charleston and her banana skirt dance, but is also said to have enriched the legendary parties of Berlin's artistic scene. The seductive vetiver fragrance opens with a fruity, aromatic mango-ginger accord. This is followed by velvety-warm notes of sage and autumn crocus on the woody-balsamic base of vetiver with its fine grassy-salty note.
Berlin air, Berlin scent. Perfumes from J.F. Schwarzlose Söhne
J.F. Schwarzlose is one of the few German perfume houses that is still known worldwide today. Founded in 1856 by Joachim Friedrich Schwarzlose as a drug and colonial goods dealer, the family business quickly developed into a perfume specialist. Its innovative fragrance creations such as Rosa Centifolia, Treffpunkt 8 Uhr , Trance and 1A-33 reflected the zeitgeist of avant-garde, sophisticated Berlin in the 1920s and 1930s. With their stylishly designed flacons, they struck a chord with the times and the tastes of celebrities. Treffpunkt 8 Uhr is said to have been one of the favorite fragrances of Josephine Baker, and some flacons even made it into the Forbidden City at the court of the Chinese Emperor and later into the Museum of The City of New York. The Second World War put an abrupt end to this success. Although the destroyed factory in Moabit was rebuilt, production was finally discontinued in 1976 because the district was restructured into a purely residential area.
From modernity to the present. J.F. Schwarzlose Berlin
Thanks to a lucky coincidence, the J.F. Schwarzlose brand was revived in 2012: While working, designer and perfume lover Lutz Herrmann came across the Berlin perfume house. Impressed by its innovative strength, the modernity of the fragrance compositions and the simple elegance of the bottles, he deepened his research and decided without further ado to relaunch the fragrances. Perfumes are now being developed and produced again under the label J.F. Schwarzlose Berlin near the old factory site in Berlin-Moabit. With the help of chromatography analysis of old bottles, perfumer Véronique Nyberg was able to determine the formula of the Schwarzlose classics and then carefully adapt them to today's tastes. In addition, the range includes the company's own fragrance creations, which are once again very much in the spirit of the vibrant capital: extravagant, original, sometimes dazzling fragrances that are cosmopolitan and contemporary, far removed from the mainstream - just like Berlin itself. The fragrances are made by hand and all components - from the ingredients to the bottle, atomizer and packaging - come exclusively from Germany and Europe in order to keep transport routes short and support local suppliers.
Note:
Please note that some perfumes, especially those with yellowish or other colored fragrance oils, may stain light-colored clothing.
