General Information
Maybe not everything was better in the past - but some things were really good. That's why we also like to select historical models or materials for our products. The designs for our hand tools, for example, come from a time when the appreciation for tools was still expressed in the increased effort associated with their manufacture. Look out for the fine ornamentation on the smooth handles made of ash wood and the special care with which the functional parts are crafted from carbon steel.

Remakes of historical tools.
It used to be that in addition to their superior materials, tools were also appreciated for their detail work. In the search for such tools, we teamed up with a collector of historical garden tools to look at old examples of such utensils. One result of that search is the pair of hand tools manufactured for us according to historical models by the Sneeboer tool smithy in North Holland.
The tool heads are made of forged, waxed carbon steel, the handles are ash treated with linseed oil. The head of the shovel is fastened with a brass collar while the head of the hoe is attached with a stable sleeve to a somewhat longer handle. Garden implements like these were last manufactured in England in the 1930s.
Historic Hand Tools. Rebuilt
There were times when the appreciation for tools was still expressed in the fact that they were not only made of excellent material, but also decorated with special effort. In search of such functional as well as beautiful tools, we sifted through old stocks with a collector of historical garden tools. The result of this work: a hand shovel and a hand hoe, made for us according to historical models at the tool smithy Sneeboer in North Holland.
The tool heads are made of forged and waxed carbon steel, the handles of ash wood treated with linseed oil. In the case of the shovel, the heads are held by a brass ferrule; a sturdy grommet encloses the slightly longer handle of the hoe. Garden tools like these were still being made in England until the 1930s.
