General Information

Kitchen towel made of strong linen. For hands and pots

The French weaving mill Charvet uses strong, undyed linen yarn of Nm 6 for this robust, plain weave kitchen towel. This makes it very durable and gives it a robust feel. Thanks to its generous material weight of 382 g/sqm, it is extremely absorbent and - when folded twice or three times - can even replace a potholder. The edge strips with the small-scale cube pattern are jacquard woven. The cloth is pre-washed, which means that linen fabric is already somewhat more supple and shrinkage is only around 3%. We recommend using detergents without optical brighteners so that the natural shade is retained for a long time.

Toiles de Cuisine. Dish Towels Made in France.

The Charvet weaving mill’s history started more than 100 years ago in the small town of Armentières, on the border with Flanders. Still based in the middle of one of the traditional flax-growing regions in Europe, Charvet specializes in linen and cotton fabrics production. Their range includes the robust linen fabrics that were once essential textiles for bakeries (toiles de boulangerie) and French workwear (for example, “vareuses” or pea jackets for fishermen), as well as tent tarpaulins and sailcloth fabrics besides kitchen towels.
