General Information
Japanese garden hoes
Hoes of this type have been used in Japan since the 15th century; there are countless shapes and sizes that can vary from region to region. The blade of this hoe is made of carbon steel (C55) and forged in such a way that it is thin and sharp at the bottom, yet tough and durable. The slight curvature (like a chisel) allows precise work, which is important in narrow plantings, for example. The handle is hardly noticeable because it is made from very light birch wood.
