An educational addition to the usual nature guides in book format: these identification cards from the Quelle & Meyer publishing house. The company, founded in 1906 and based in Wiebelsheim, owes its reputation as a world-class scientific publisher not least to the "Naturwissenschaftliches Unterrichtswerk" (Natural Science Teaching Work) of its co-founder Otto Schmeil. The technical content of this set of three is therefore beyond reproach. Our selection of cards focuses on insects worth protecting in the home garden: Wild bees, butterflies - and butterfly caterpillars. After all, caterpillars in particular could do with our support, as we often perceive them mainly as pests and forget that every single caterpillar is a beautiful butterfly that is often already threatened with extinction. Recognition and identification of the animals is made easier by color photographs taken in the wild, with close attention to detail.
