Woven in a sturdy rib weave from pure cotton, these pillowcases are extremely sturdy and durable, so you can confidently use them on your balcony and patio furniture. There, thanks to their cheerfully colored stripes, they look great and add colorful, summery accents—which, of course, they do just as well on armchairs and sofas in the winter. The colorful fabrics are the result of a special collaboration: they combine the time-honored weaving traditions of the Guatemalan Maya people with Swedish design. The pillow covers are crafted by independent weavers in the highlands of Guatemala on small home looms, inspired by the patterns and colors of traditional Maya costumes. The collaboration was initiated by “A World of Craft,” a Stockholm-based company that has been dedicated to preserving traditional crafts from Africa, Asia, and Latin America since 1967. This creates jobs and market access for regions where craftsmanship is a vital means of livelihood, and traditional weaving techniques can continue to be practiced.
