The region around Grenoble is one of the most famous walnut-growing regions in the world. The walnuts grown by the local nut growers - the nuciculteurs - have had a protected geographical designation of origin (AOC) under the name Grenoble walnuts since 1938. We offer Grenoble walnuts of the Franquette variety. These medium-sized aromatic nuts are easy to crack. They come from a family business that has been growing the nuts for three generations. The light brown shell oxidizes easily, which is why it can sometimes be darker in colour. This is not a sign that the nuts are too old, but a sign of quality - it indicates that the nuts have not been bleached, as is often the case, but are untreated.
