The region around Grenoble is one of the most famous walnut-growing regions in the world. The walnuts cultivated by the local nut farmers - the nuciculteurs - have had a protected geographical designation of origin (AOC) under the name Grenoble walnuts since 1938. We offer Grenoble walnuts of the Franquette variety. These aromatic nuts are easy to crack. They come from a family business that has been growing the nuts for three generations. The light brown shell oxidizes easily, which is why it can sometimes be darker in colour. This is not a sign that the nuts are too old, but a sign of quality - it indicates that the nuts have not been bleached, as is often the case, but are untreated.
