These vibrantly colored perennial blooms add bold splashes of color to flower beds and planters. They are primarily handcrafted using a technique known as fused glass. To create them, the glass mixture is first melted in a kiln at temperatures ranging from about 800 to 900 °C. Stencils specially made for this purpose are needed to shape the very hot, viscous, transparent mass into a flower form. The process then continues through various manual steps, during which the glass surfaces are carefully refined, the edges of the glass calyxes are polished to a mirror-like finish, and the calyxes are hand-painted in many layers. The paint is applied with a brush and is completely waterproof, as the colors are fired onto the glass much like a ceramic glaze. For this final step, temperatures of approximately 700 °C are reached once again in the kiln. This allows the glass flowers to remain outdoors all year round. How lovely: In summer, they compete in brilliance with the blooms of your ornamental dahlias, perennials, and shrubs, and in the colder months, they outshine the brown, withered, and faded parts of the plants. The colorful blooms sit on weather-resistant stainless steel rods, all of the same length, and adorn flower beds and planters alike. To secure the glass blooms to the rod, a round dot of black copper is placed in the center—acting as a sort of stamp.

Our tip: Make sure no water collects in the calyxes of the large glass flowers during the winter. This will help prevent any frost damage from the start.

Certain manufacturing steps are carried out by hand. Slight dimensional and color deviations may therefore occur.
