General Information
Charming Christmas guest
Called Nisse in Denmark and Norway, Tomte in Sweden and Tonttu in Finland: Christmas without elves is just as unthinkable in Scandinavia as houses without Falunrot, Finland without lakes or forests without conifers. Nisse and Tomte in particular were originally guardian spirits of the farm, who watched over both the family and the livestock. In the course of the 19th century, the gnomes became more and more (and very cozy) part of the Christmas tradition. In terms of his nature, the elf is quite a complex character: extremely helpful if you treat him well - and especially if you put out a bowl of porridge for him on Christmas Eve. However, if he doesn't feel respected, the gnome can also turn into a little spirit of revenge who gets up to all sorts of mischief.
So treat him well! Because even our Christmas elf craves nothing more than respect, affection and care. He even peeks out from under the rim of his hat, which is rather rare among elves and definitely a sign of affection and trust. This makes him all the more reliable as a charming addition to your Christmas decorations - hanging, standing or sitting, as he also has a solid wire incorporated inside to make him extremely flexible. Hand-felted from pure New Zealand wool, he will adorn your home for many Christmases to come. And you won't even have to trim his impressive beard - it's so durable. Not to forget: He's simply unbeatable as a gift for a Secret Santa.
Fairly combined. Gry & Sif
During her backpacking trip through Nepal, the Dane Gry Staunstrup was immediately captivated by the openness and warmth of the people - and by their high level of craftsmanship. She was able to observe in detail how skillfully and skilfully Nepalese women felted wool into Objekten. The idea of using this skill and combining Nepalese craftsmanship with Danish design was quickly born. And the idea was immediately followed by action.
Since 2000, the company Gry & Sif has been producing a wide range of products from wool felt in Nepal. The designs supplied by Gry Staunstrup are in typical Danish design, as striking as they are discreet and at the same time carefree and cheerful; the production is carried out by Nepalese women using traditional craftsmanship. Now Fair Trade certified, Gry & Sif stands for fair wages, good working conditions and transparency. Only pure new wool from New Zealand sheep is used for the felt products - each of which is unique and handmade.
Note:
Certain manufacturing steps are carried out by hand. Slight dimensional and color deviations may therefore occur.
