Chalcedony is a gemstone from the quartz family. It has a milky appearance and comes in different colors, with the bluish tones being particularly popular. These chalcedony stones are literally at the center of these earrings. They are rectangular stones with a faceted cut, which ensures an appealing brilliance. The Utopia setting (so named by Guthmann) holds the stones securely in artistic handles, which are also a decorative element. The box shape of the setting frames the stone body harmoniously, while at the same time allowing light to reach the transparent colored stone from behind. The setting and pendant are made of oxidized 925 silver, which provides an attractive contrast to the stone thanks to its dark colouring.

Making high-quality crafted jewelry affordable for as many people as possible - with this in mind, goldsmith Martin Guthmann founded his jewelry manufactory in 1906. Today, run by his great-grandson in the fourth generation, the family business still produces entirely in the jewelry and gold city of Pforzheim. In the manufactory, rolled, stamped, drawn and cast parts are assembled by hand into small series. Among other things, old jewelry forms and ornaments from the company's own history are incorporated into the design: they are cast and - using historical manufacturing techniques - transferred to our time.
