This poncho made of soft, supple lambswool is very light and warm at the same time. Originally widespread in Mexico and South America in particular, the poncho has long been very popular here too, mainly thanks to its comfort. The wool comes from Italy and is processed in the Steinbeck wool weaving mill. The southern German manufacturer not only produces this poncho from the fine lambswool, but also a blanket with the same muted, yet cheerful and colorful check pattern, which you can also find in our range. So you have the choice: poncho or sofa blanket.

The fact that both are available is no coincidence: Steinbeck is a fully integrated company with carded yarn spinning, weaving and finishing all under one roof. First of all, the dyed wool yarn is woven into a plaid in a twill weave and this is then mechanically roughened in the traditional way on space machines fitted with natural thistles. This creates a voluminous, fine and soft surface that also has a heat-insulating effect. Finally, the poncho is given an incision that is carefully hemmed. Strictly speaking, this incision makes the poncho a ruana - at least in South America, where this small but subtle linguistic distinction is made between the closed and open form.
