The poncho, which originated in Mexico and the Andes in South America, is one of the oldest items of clothing in human history and embodies a deep cultural heritage that has expressed identity, social origin and traditional craftsmanship for thousands of years. It also owes its popularity in this country to its unique combination of style and functionality: it warms very well, offers plenty of freedom of movement and can be put on and taken off quickly. This simply beautiful piece is made in a workshop in Kathmandu on a traditional hand knitting machine: from pure cashmere. The fine, flowing knitted fabric is silky-soft and pleasantly light on the skin, providing cozy warmth while balancing the temperature. The poncho has a checked design with a V-neckline and narrow rib-knit cuffs at the ends. It can be worn in a variety of ways - whether as a basic piece for a layering look in the transitional period, as an elegant companion in the office or as a light throw on cool summer evenings.

Behind the Danish label Care By Me are designer Camilla Gullits and her business partner Pernille Pold. Their designs combine Danish design and the traditional craftsmanship of India and Nepal, as their aim is not only to offer high-quality and durable clothing and home textiles, but also to produce them in a resource-friendly and fair way. In Nepal, for example, handmade textiles make up a large part of the national economy and, as in India, the production of textiles is traditionally in the hands of women. Care By Me therefore works with small workshops where women can learn and practise the traditional craft in order to provide them with a secure income. The new wool comes from the region around Kathmandu and is also spun there. The cotton used comes from controlled organic cultivation and Care By Me sources it from a GOTS and fair trade-certified partner company.
