This bath and shower mat comes from Sardinia and is unusual in several respects: on the one hand because of its (tread) firm, voluminous and dense structure, and on the other hand because of the special way it is made. The bath mat is woven with three thread systems in a process similar to the epinglé technique used for velvet - from a four-ply yarn in the ground warp, a loop consisting of 18 twisted yarns, and a particularly strong eight-ply yarn in the weft. Traditionally, this is a process for weaving solid wool carpets, here it is also applied - resorting to cotton instead of wool - for the manufacture of this bath mat, which, nevertheless, is also recommended as a bed rug for the bedroom.
