A soap dispenser made from fine, white alabaster quarried in Catalonia. The slightly marbled, translucent material has a matt, shimmering surface that is always velvety and warm to the touch. Unlike marble, it is not waterproof, but can dissolve over time if it is permanently exposed to water and moisture. This is why the soap is filled into a (125 ml capacity) glass soap tank inside the soap dispenser. Plastic feet ensure that it stands securely, protect the base and protect the base of the soap dispenser from getting wet. The lid and pump dispenser are made of chrome-plated brass, which contrasts beautifully with the white alabaster. Particularly practical: the tube of the pump dispenser is slanted so that the soap always comes out at the bottom and you don't come under soap bombardment.

Alabaster is a natural stone that is related to gypsum stone. Translucent and slightly marbled, it was already used as a material for sculpture in ancient Egypt and antiquity, and its transparency meant that thin slabs of alabaster were even used as window panes. The largest deposits of this rather soft rock were formed around 200 to 300 million years ago (in the Permian and Triassic periods) through crystallization and deposition during the evaporation of seawater. Alabaster can be found in various places, but today it is only mined in Italy (Volterra) and Spain (Catalonia).

The alabaster used for our bathroom utensils comes from the quarries of Serral, near the southern Catalan city of Tarragona, where it is quarried in small blocks. The various items are turned by hand on a lathe and then polished. Alabaster can show different shades of color, the grain ranges from brownish to transparent. White stone is specially selected for the bathroom items so that they can be easily combined. Nevertheless, each piece is unique with its own individual coloring and grain.
